Large amounts of research support the effectiveness of acupuncture in reducing pain. Acupuncture has been shown to be effective for musculoskeletal and/or mobility problems such as back, neck, shoulder, elbow, heel and TMJ pain. There is also strong data to support the use of acupuncture for knee osteoarthritis, sciatica, headache and migraine.
Using skilled evaluation, diagnosis and a wide variety of hands on techniques, the aim of acupuncture is to find the cause of the problem, remove blockages and restore balance and function. The number and timing of treatments depends on each individual situation but generally acupuncturists may want to see a patients a few times over a few weeks initially for severe acute pain, and then space visits out as needed to allow the body’s own innate self-healing mechanism to take over.
Acupuncture is suitable for almost anyone. It can treat and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, with the aim to leave you pain free and structurally balanced. Being aligned helps us feel happy, healthy and confident in our bodies.
